PEGASUS ARTIST OF THE MONTH – JULY 2019
Tracy Lang
Tracy Lang owns the only tattoo shop ever on Bainbridge Island: Ryderville Ink.
Her fine art is built by transferring digital ink to surfaces including panel and steel.
She is known nationally for her giant woodcut prints.
From the artist:
“My grandmother kicked me off her lap at age three when I started to critique her painting style. She handed me a brush and said if you think you know what you are doing, then do it yourself.
I am fascinated by the idea that as we perceive our reality that moment has already passed, and what our consciousness is actually doing is remembering that moment: The time we call now. Art grapples with the impossible: Pinning down moments while seeming eternal. Making life feel immortal while exposing the turbulence and contrarian values nature imposes. Making art is ritual – tossing spears into an empty field near the ancestral gate.”
All featured artworks from this exhibition are available for viewing and sale on the walls of Pegasus Coffee House from July 1 to 31), and also for online sale (with the addition of a packaging and shipping charge unique to each work) – please make all non-local purchase inquiries via the Contact Pegasus Page here at pegasusbainbridge.com.
